allboutp A/ N: Sorry for the lateness of the fic. I’ve been sick for over a week and didn’t manage to complete it on time. But, better late than never right. It’s been a loooong time since my last fic so I hope this fic turns alright. Happy reading, people….
“Someday we will meet again. But until then, forget me not, ne, Ryo-chan.” That was the last thing he had said to me, the last time I saw him, my first friend, Ue-chan.
It’s all happened when I was five years old. At that time, I was sitting alone at the park, as no one wanted to play with me seeing as all of them were big kids while I was just a little too young for them. I was sitting alone under the big Sakura tree, watching them playing with each other. That’s when he came, holding out his lollipop to me.
Slowly, I took the candy from him. Then he proceeds to sit beside me. “Why are you here all alone?” He asked me. I looked down.
“Nobody wants to befriend with me. They said I’m too little. But I’m five.” I said, holding out 5 fingers to him proudly.
“I’ll be your friend if you want.” He said to me. I looked at him, smiling widely. “Really, you’ll be my friend.”
He nodded, smiling back at me. I noticed that he had a very nice smile. From that day onwards, we became a pretty good friend. That is until two months later.
We meet at our usual place, under the Sakura tree. After playing together for awhile, I decided it was time to tell him the sad news.
“You’re leaving? When?” He asked, and I could hear the sadness in his voice.
“Tommorow.” I whispered, face looking to the ground. When I looked up, I saw his eyes glassy with tears.
“But..but..that’s too soon. Am I ever going to see you again?” He asked me and even I don’t know the answer.
“I don’t know, Ue-chan. My mom said that we’re only here for vacation. Maybe we’ll come here again someday.” I told him while holding his hand.
“If you come here again, promise me that you’ll come to this place. I’ll wait for you here. I promise to come here everyday.” He said to me, grasping my hand tightly.
“I promise!” I said to him, eyes already sparkled with unshed tears, but I managed to hold it in. “Here, this is for you. My grandmother gave it to me; she said to give it to my important person. You’re important to me so I’m going to give it to you.” I said, holding out the necklace my grandmother gave to me before she died. Ue-chan took the necklace from me and put it around his neck.
“I’ll keep it safe and with me all the time, Ryo-chan. And I’ll give it back to you when we meet again, ok.” Then he hugs me, and whispered those last words that keep haunting me to this day.
I sighed for the tenth time, then turning around to leave, only stopping when I saw one of my co-workers is walking towards me, or more specifically to wards the tree I was standing under. Well, that person is not exactly a co-worker since both of us is from a different group, but we’re still under the same company.
“What are you doing here?” I asked curiously while leaning against the tree’s trunk. The other guy just shrug then proceeds to sit under the same tree.
“Just the same as you, I guess.” He says. I looked in disbelief at him. Surely not, I said to myself. Then, I looked at him while he’s sitting on the ground. Nah, it can’t be, maybe just a coincident, I whispered again.
“Beautiful, isn’t it!” He said to me while watching the showering of flower petals.
“Yes, it is.” I said, looking back at him. Just then, I finally realized what a beautiful pictures it made, with the pink and white flower petals showering down like rain onto this man in front of me. His face looked so gorgeous with his serene smile plastered on, and eyes sparkling with wonder and amazement looking at the beautiful scenery.
I quickly turned my face facing the other side before he noticed that I’m staring at him. I could felt the heat that started to redden my cheeks. What is wrong with me, I asked myself.
“You know, I used to come here a lot when I was young.” He told me, startling me from my musing.
“Really? I did too.” I said, wondered to myself why I told him that. The smile that he gave me upon my statement is blinding me. Seriously, there should be a law against that kind of smile. I mean, that smile is certainly not good for one’s heart. I think I’m going to have a heart attack by the way my heart keep on thumping this fast. Is he trying to kill me or something?
“Nishikido, are you ok? Are you sick or something? You’re quite red, you know.” I glared at his question. How dare he asks me that, after all this is all his fault.
“I’m fine. I’m just hot.” I told him. Why do I get a feeling like he doesn’t believe what I said? Hey, I’m the sexy Osaka man; nobody can shrug at me like that. Especially, not him.
“Whatever you said, Nishikido!” He said, smirking at me. “Stop smirking, Ueda. It does not suit you to do that.” I told him. He just continued smirking, like knowing something that I don’t. Then he stood up, and proceeds to stand beside me.
“By the way, Ryo-chan, I’m quite sad that you don’t remember me. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, you know.” He whispered into my ears, body pressed against me, so closed that I can practically smell his cologne.
“What…??” I statured, a bit confused with what he said. Then he pressed something into my hand.
“Well, I see you around. Ja ne.” He said before leaving me standing there alone. I looked into my palm and I was shocked to find the necklace that I gave to Ue-chan years ago is in my hand.
The End
