My boyfriend built the multi-level cage for her because she'd climb up to the top of her double-decker 10 gallon and we were afraid she'd fall in the middle of the night and hurt herself. Yet she still continues to be our monkey and climb anyway, what a noodlebutt.

I have no idea what kind of hamster she is, if anyone can tell me we'd love to know. I saw her on February 8th, 2008; while on an excursion at a local pet store on the hunt for fishies (bf is a HUGE fish buff) I saw her trying desperately to climb up a glass tank. She was the only hamster awake, I fell in love with her and named her Pineapple. It was 15 minutes before the store was closing so we went home and discussed her. I'd never had any interest in hamster or any animals really (too much poo, too much hair everywhere, I'm very O.C.). It was a week before V-Day, so I had to choose between her and a secret present. I cried and had to choose her, couldn't leave her in that store any longer. The next morning we went when the store opened and I got her for V-Day. Best present EVER!!!

I have no idea how old she was when we got her, I wanted to get her a playmate but when we went back their hamsters were all gone. With her age and being alone for so long I'm hesitant to put another hamster with her. So I guess I'll wait till she passes on and make sure to get some sisters next time (and that better not be anytime soon, I love her too much). She's too quick on the draw and it's hard to get pictures of her, she has a black/gray stripe down her tummy and she squeaks when she gets super excited or while eating something new and tasty. Wow this was long, sorry everyone.
I love this community and the pictures!!!

1. I've read several different lists of what things are ok for hamster. I've heard cooked chicken, raw veggies, raw fruits, dried unsalted items, baked bread, cooked potatoes, and chocolate are ok (all in small amounts). What are your thoughts?
2. I remembered another question. What do all of your do about trimming nails? Pineapple has freaky-crazy nails, at least every two weeks I have to go get her nails trimmed at the local vet. I'm too afraid to trim her myself, she skrinkles and moves too quickly (afraid I'll cut her toe/s off). Is there anything I can do to help slow the growth of her crazy long nails?
3. Oh another question. You can see in the blurry picture the top of her head has some thinning hair. Sometime it'll be fine, then I'll notice she's have some thinning hair the next week. She seems more than fine, eats well, no wet tail, drinks enough water, loves playing, and tickling the beans out of my boyfriends back (that's what I threaten him with, "Don't make me let Pineapple skrinkle down the back of your shirt!!!"). Any thoughts?
I'm sure I have other questions, but of course I can't remember them.
