Today's adventure in my purple sweatshirt:

:)

Despite my fears that he is going to suddenly die on me, he is doing extremely well and delighting me every day. It is amazing to see all of the things that he does. He eats very well for me, which is a huge relief. He seems to be a cuddler on the couch when he feels like it; sometimes he finds a comfy spot in my sweatshirt and is content to just sit there for a while.

Today was the first day he really willingly jumped into my hand, which was an awesome experience.

I do have a few questions for you guys, though:

* I obviously am feeding him the Forti-Diet pellets; I opted to start on those because that is what we feed at PetCo. When I had Pickles I did give him one of the other brands that involved mixed materials. I see that most of you feed something like this as well. I have severe food allergies and noticed that I would break out in hives with Pickles if he had been in his food recently - but I was fine at work with all of those hamsters with their Forti-Diet. I'm thinking about keeping Patrick on the FD for my own allergy needs. Will this harm him in any way?

* Patrick is kept in a 10-gallon fish tank. The other day I noticed him digging and chewing at some of the glue in the corner of the tank. This behavior seems to have slowed/stopped. Should I be worried about this?

* I have made a point of handling him twice daily: in the AM when I clean his tank (for a short time because I know that he is sleepy) and in the PM when he has woken up. In the PM I put him back when he seems to be getting a bit stressed - when he really starts running around a bit faster than usual. Is this correct? Should I put him back well before that point?

Thanks for the help, guys. I'm so glad that I can come here and learn from you all!
