Book Review: Ender's Game

Feb 08, 2008 22:04

I finally read Ender's Game yesterday...

I thought the book was fantastic... definately one of the best Sci-Fi books i've ever read. The characters were fascinating, specially Andrew 'Ender' Wiggins. (I love the nick 'Ender' btw)

The plot was great fun.. I mean.. who doesn't like 6 year olds playing war games against each other and training to become great warriors and commanders to annahilate a whole alien race... right? *grins*

Also the psychological aspects and the mindgames that the adult's play with Ender make the book more than just another children's fantasy. I loved how they made Ender into such a grey and flawed character.. even though he was such a genius. I love how his character was so fleshed out.

I also loved the side characters of Bean, Petra, Dink, Alai, Shen and Crazy Tom. Oh and Valentine, his sister, too.

The characters of Valentine and Peter and their actions as Demosthenes and Locke added another darker element to the book.. and a very good one.

I loved the book.. it was a great and fun read. A one sitter as I like to call it. (Since I finished it in one sitting) 9/10
