Starting to feel edgy due to not bicycling since last Friday. Restless! I rode the gym bike yesterday for over an hour, and that place is so hot that my shirt was wringable afterwards. Yuck. Also, the seat-tilt is non-adjustable, so I not only feel as if I'm slowly sliding downhill, my tailbone goes numb. HOW much longer? New parts aren't due to ( Read more... )

Sad to hear the parts to fix your bike are taking more time. You should come up with something EXCITING for your bruises. Like "well, it was either due to a bike wreck or, you know, injuring incurred while evading the Russian mafia that's after me"

My coworker has firm opinions on how to eat a banana. She peels them from the bottom instead of the top - claims its more efficient.

Hah-I like that idea! "I was wrangling a crocodile when this happened..."

Peeling from the bottom sounds messier than from the top, though if the tip does not crack... it's all bad. Squoosh out the side.

My husband will just go at the things, and I can SEE those little strings dangling and he just eats them anyway. Heck, he probably eats the big, waxy ones, too.

I can feel them on my tongue, and sometimes halfway down my throat, and I've definitely gagged on them. No idea if my kids even notice, though neither of them will eat celery, and I'm convinced the strings are a big part of that.

A girl I used to work with peeled them that way, said it made the strings peel off with the peel rather than stayin on the banana... however I could never managed to do it! The tip has that pointy bit to break off and start the peeling process, but the bottom has nothing!

It sounds messy, though clearly she felt the same way about banana strings that I do. :D

sometimes i eat my bananas by slicing them into a bowl with sour cream. yum. no banana strings, tho. those come right off.

i agree you should make up shit when people ask about your bruises. ninjas did it. :D

I thought of people eating them with milk, but not sour cream, somehow. I guess I don't love sour cream indiscriminately. :D

ninjas! Always a good shortcut on the path to creating awesomeness. :D

i learned about bananas and sour cream when i lived in nashville, so it might be a southern thing. i don't know anyone who eats them together.

one of my friends taught me about the ninja bridge, which is when you get stuck on a story and don't know what to do next, or how to connect where you are now with where you want to be. you add ninjas. :D

Hmmm... if only the ninja bridge would ever work in MY stories. Can you imagine ninjas in Harlan County, or in the SATED universe? Though they would totally fit in with Chuck, if I were still writing that.

The satire, "Paul Is Undead," features an AU history of the Beatles as zombies... except for Ringo, who is actually a Ninja. And Mick Jagger, who is a hunter of the undead. ;)

That's how my husband feels about them. There is hardly anything they won't improve!

I don't know how you feel about peanut butter, personally, but extra crunchy JIF PB on hot toast with banana slices is the BOMB. :D

Ouchie *Hugs*

Bananas are delicious however they're eaten, so we will allow this banana bowl alien-ness ;).

The banana-bowl thing seems a little like eating pizza with a fork, to me, though you would either have sliced through or removed the banana strings that way. Definitely solves the other problem!

And minions are always a win, for me. At least, the fat little yellow ones are. :D

Hi! I've seen you around, we share a few interests and LJ is so quiet nowadays that it's quite difficult to find anyone who is posting at least somewhat regularly. So I thought I'd ask if you'd like us to friend each other? :)

Also thanks for that Breaking Bad rec! I discovered that show around a year ago and rushed through it in less than three weeks and have been thinking recently of marathoning it again. It was quite a ride!

Sure, please-- I've added you. :)

That was a great BB story-- I really like that author's work in other BB stories, too. There was another one that was AU with Jesse as a prostitute and Walt as having a midlife crisis instead of getting cancer and making meth, and it was one of those rare cases where the AU totally works and the characterization is still so very true. The author didn't finish the story, unfortunately, but... I regret nothing. Worth it for the chapter she did complete. :)

I added you as well! Yay :)

Life is a bit busy at the moment, but I'll bookmark your other recommendation as well. As I was marathoning Breaking Bad, I absolutely had to check what fics AO3 had to offer. I always find reading fics a great addition while watching a show I really like.
