Today is the last day of voting for the current round of Idol, and any and all votes are appreciated. My pieces are here and here (two this week). The poll numbers on the first one are really making me nervous

Hahaha... welcome to the club, my dear Mme Venus, because Mr Cumberbatch left a big impression on me too - together with Mr Freeman, of course. *nods**nods*
The BBC's 'Sherlock' is a brilliant TV show and got me hooked up from the premiere eppy on... *little squeees*
Good luck to all your plans, my friend; have a good weekend and I'm wishing you 'n' your family a joyful vacation. *huggles*

The role of Sherlock is a difficult one, in that the writing surround it needs to be entertaining enough that Sherlock himself is not entirely insufferable. I love the movies with Robert Downey Jr. (and Jude Law is just a wonderful Watson). There's a lot of humor in the story to counteract the fact that a lot of the time, you just want to smack Sherlock for being such a jerk. ;)
I'd only caught part of a Sherlock show from another room a year or two ago, where the modern setting got my back up. Much better to watch it from the first episode, because you get over all of that stuff pretty quickly then.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too. It's sure to be lovely this time of year where you are. :)
Hah-- you're not kidding! My daughter watched the premiere, and then mainlined two seasons in her room off of Youtube. Now she's edgy because S3 has not started yet, and is rewatching the first two seasons with the grownups.
Cumberbatch makes me swoon when he's a ginger but I did find him gorgeous in Sherlock, too. I realize he appeals to a small group. But it is a stellar show!!!!
He's a marvelous actor, regardless of appearance, and again... that Voice. I first saw him in some costume-drama-type TV show or movie years ago, and I remember wondering WHO that was with the incredible voice... and then thinking that I could not believe he'd been cursed with that name. Really, both halves of the name are kind of unfair, but when put together? Poor guy.
Your daughter has marvellous taste! While Benedict Cumberbatch couldn't seriously be described as a hottie he's certainly exceptional in the role of Mr Holmes! And while Martin Freeman is brilliant as Dr. Watson he still looks just like a hobbit to me too!! :)
Packing for vacation? Hope you're going somewhere lovely. Me? Trying to stay cool; and failing miserably!
He makes a wonderful Holmes, and if one is going to pontificate, as Sherlock does, it helps to have That Voice.
We're just going up to Oregon to visit family. I'm considering other options for next year, but we're sort of trapped in that my parents (and two sisters) live up there, and my parents are 86 now. I'm wondering if next year, we should go up during the kids' Spring Break, and then try to go someplace else during the summer. Lauren and her schedule (Mock Trial, summer volunteer/internship/etc.) really make it hard to plan anything. This has been a problem for years! But as we discovered, potential Mock Trial state competitions also torpedo the first weekend of Spring Break. So that might be a time to do something less 'glamorous.' Not that our vacations ever are

You're absolutely right that That Voice is made for pontification!! :) When you get to see the Hound of the Baskervilles edition don't think I speak like the 'locals' just because Dartmoor is on my doorstep!! Their accents are nothing like a proper Devonshire one! :)
I suppose by the time the kids get older and their education and work commitments become more important it's hard to find time for you all to get away. Still good to try to do something as a family though so I hope you do manage to get away somewhere. Who needs glamorous holidays anyway?!! :)
It has been uncomfortably hot over here in Blighty...it could be worse for me though because I live on the coast so sea breezes help to keep the temps down a little. I don't blame your daughter for thinking it ridiculous that Kate ended her trip early but you're right that 89F is a lot hotter than we're used to!! And she's very close to giving birth too so that didn't help matters at all, poor girl.
