The Company Series - Kage Baker
Entartete Kunst, Van Drouten; G; Gen; No AO3 warnings apply, but takes place in the Netherlands during the Nazi occupation and deals with issues brought up by that (including mentioned child death from illness).

"It's a more epic way to say not finding it's offended me, and now it's super-personal."

Helen's only experiences with princesses come from herself and the histories. She liked herself well enough, but all of the princesses from the histories seemed pretty different from each other. Some of them she didn't think she'd get along well with at all.
