I did a speech on Princess Tutu today in class. Wavered back and forth between that and doing a speech on the Rajputs, to the point where I was up until 4am last night debating it. Finally settled down and got it done. Speech went okay...but I was obviously unprepared, sadly. But my teacher commented that my enthusiasm always shows through in my ( Read more... )

Ahaha, I LOVE Osaka's Brooklyn accent. XD It's so cute. Fuhgeddaboudit. When I heard they gave her a Southern accent in the anime, I was confused.

Typin' in a Brooklyn accent is fun. I hafta' do it when I write as Mars. Rememba' ta' use a lotta a's, d's, and "you" becomes youse.

Well, the Houston accent makes sense to me when they explain it. XD I read in a magazine once that they chose that one because like Osaka, it was situated in the south and is a big business area. So both Houston and Osaka have a similar "feel" to the cities? I like the Brooklyn one, too.

How about "poivoit"? I stared at that one for a minute or two, wondering why Toji was suddenly French, until I realized it was pervert.

This is why I generally can't stand accents being written out; it's so difficult to read!

(And yeah, I really thought it was a French word. Shut up.)

Yeah, it makes sense. XD I think I have a thing for Brooklyn accents thanks to Mars. Kansai would probably be better for a Brooklyn accent than Osakan.

Poivoit.. Hahah. It does sound French o.O

I love writing/reading accents. XD I blame that on Ultimate Muscle.

I'm not big on reading accents, just because...it's...difficult. I like listening to them, though.

Er. No comment on Toji's accent, but I LOVE manga!Toji.

I don't like Manga!Shinji, I prefer his emo and quietly flawed but brave anime self.

I haven't gotten far enough to really judge manga!Toji yet, I think, but so far I think he's alright.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about manga!Shinji. He makes me laugh, but making him so snotty sort of...takes away an ability to empathize with him, somehow. At least for me. I know some people prefer him with "a backbone", though...
But yeah, I like sweet, flawed, depressed Shinji. XD;

The character I love the most is Kaji. Wait for him. He's SO GOOD.

Word. Ugh.

XD Oooh, yay! Looking forward to him, then.

...I'm also looking forward to Kaworu, for some crazy reason. There's something about him...being creepy and killing kittens that makes me laugh. He and Shinji are going to be quite the pair. XD;

If he's got a 'Brooklyn accent', is he from Osaka? Because I hear the way they talk over there is the equivalent...And very few people I know from Brooklyn actually talk like that. It's a lie. D:

Manga!Shinji sounds a hell of a lot more interesting and entertaining than Wimp!Shinji. Anime!Shinji can go curl up in the fetal position somewhere and tell himself not to run away or something equally useless. 8DDD

It's...Osaka or Kansai. I forget which one. *checks on Wiki* Ah, here it is. "In Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's manga adaptation of Evangelion, the English translation of Toji's dialogue gives him a distinct accent, which could be described as a "New York gangster" dialect, an English approximation of Toji's Osaka-ben dialect."

So yeah, Osaka-ben.

Well...I think they're equally interesting. I agree that manga!Shinji is more entertaining--some of his snarky comebacks are genuinely funny--but I think anime!Shinji is more likable. (You'd probably disagree, but..) Manga!Shinji is just as scared and whimpy as anime!Shinji, really, it's just they cope differently--A!S responds by pushing people away and going into his little bubble thanks to his earphones, while M!S responds by lashing out at everyone. He's also more emotional in general--he's burst into tears at least once when I know anime!Shinji didn't have a reaction along those lines. (They were happy tears, in a way--he was telling Misato he didn't really want to leave and I think something ( ... )

I'd rather a character get mad and lash out at someone than listen to their cassette a trillion times and generally being a soggy bint. I see him...and I just want to slap him around and kick him down a hill. >_> If that soggy man person is more likeable than the manga version (since he wasn't likable at all, imo. Just kickable.), then the manga would probably be...torture. XD;;;

Manga!Shinji makes me want to slap him around, so....XD but anime!Shinji makes me want to protect and cuddle and ooh and aah over him, so I don't think I can speak for how you'd feel about 'em.

After reading the Princess Tutu manga, it came off to me as one-big-ol'fan comic splurge. I couldn't take it seriously I suppose, not after seeing the series.

...Oh well thanks. Now Fakir's reenacting the Domino's commercial over and over in my head. "I t'ink we gatta wise guy here!"

Planing anything for Ahiru's birthday coming up? ^_^

I think of the Tutu manga as a strange High School AU with some of the magical elements intact. XD I don't take it seriously, either.

XDDDDDDDD THAT'D BE GREAT.

Well, there's a Tutu plot right now, so she can't have a party...but it's a curse day where wishes come true (just for the day), so she's going to wish that Fakir's alive.

Ah, yes, so I just found out. Ol' Drossie's kind stinkin' it to Ahiru. "I mean, who would ever love a bird?"Poor pet.

Awwww~*wibble* And he'll be all, "You idiot! Why would you wish for something like that?!" ^w^ Wonder what he'll get her for a preasent? *ponders*...O///O! *is shot*
