On the heels of this weekend's good news comes some terribly sad news. I just got an email informing me that one of my shipmates from the Cramer died recently. There weren't many details, but it was implied that it was suicide.

I hadn't been in touch with him for a while, but it's still a painful loss.

I just found out George Carlin died, and I feel like I've suddenly lost one of the few people I relied on to be pretty trustworthy about openly calling bullshit on certain aspects of today's society ( Read more... )

Roy Scheider (Chief Brody in Jaws, among other things) has passed away at the age of 75. They aren't saying how he died, but I know he'd had cancer.

That man (as Captain Bridger) totally made SeaQuest worth watching.

Though the Farkers' mix of poignant and irreverent comments do make it both more and less sad:
