I tried to do a meme and failed

Aug 23, 2019 07:41

Before I get to meme failure, I would just like to say I have been watching the drama over the Spider-Man rights like I'm courtside at a tense ping pong match. Who's going to win!?! It's pretty obvious haha. If there's anything to find out, we'll find out tomorrow. eta: I guess we won't find out! d'oh!

I'm not particularly invested in who ends up with the rights to Spider-Man, but I do think it would be a shame to not see his story through the MCU. More then that I would really really miss MJ and Ned. They've done such great work with Peter Parker and his stand-alone films, to have it cut short would be a shame. But I'm pretty sure it'll all get resolved. Ultimately, if Marvel really wants him in the MCU, they'll get him. (eta: the 'if they really want him' part being important here. they wanted him badly enough before but maybe not so much now...)

Gotta hand it to Disney, they know how to play hardball! I mean, having this all play out in the trades days before D23? Come on. It's like a masterclass in negotiation tactics. Some (many?) are saying Disney/Marvel are bullies and they're greedy and whatnot, but I gotta tell you, I've dealt with both companies extensively. They're both terrible in most things. And Disney probably really is trying to take over the world. But I would chew my own arm off rather than work at Sony. Just saying.

Whenever Disney does take over the world and we find ourselves living on Disney Planet, and we have to pick which land we want to live in, I would like to move to Tomorrowland, please and thank you.

This is my attempt at the meme taken from
killabeez and
destina where you categorize your fandoms like past or current relationships. It looked fun and saucy. But unexpectedly difficult! I apparently treat all past fandoms like long lost kittens.

I also don't really have enough fandoms for all the questions lol.

The one who seduced you, screwed you over, broke your heart in a million pieces, and laughed about it.

I guess this would be The X-Files? Because I did love it INTENSELY at the start. I was young! But its more like -- okay, yes it seduced me, but I realized at one point it wasn't a happy two-way relationship so I bailed on it well before it got truly bad, and my heart did not break into a million pieces.

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp:

This is where most of my past fandoms live: Star Trek TOS, Star Trek Voyager, Wiseguy, Doctor Who, Jane Austen, PotC, Harry Potter, Leverage, Justified... what else?

The mysterious dark one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 AM at weird coffee houses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized they really were fucking crazy:

24! Wiseguy, maybe?

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor and whom you'd still really like to get with again, although you're relieved they don't actually live in town:

This is definitely Harry Potter but specifically the time when I went full tilt into Snape/Hermione and it was like someone drugged me, put a bag over my head, put me in a van, drove me around, gave me more drugs, then tossed me out of the side of the street and it was like I'd woken up after 3 months kidnapped.

eta: Also Starsky & Hutch! I was definitely kidnapped.

The steady:

Highlander. Possibly MCU. Maybe even Leverage.

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with:

I get bored so easily, I don't know who this could be.

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with, but ultimately you're just good buddies: you still might do it one day never say never!

Justified, Star Trek Voyager.

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool person except it's never really gone anywhere:

too many to list lol.

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at them and thinking, "How the hell did they land all these cool people?"

I guess I would say Supernatural, though less so these days. In it's heyday it seemed to suck everyone up like a vacuum!

The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and against whom you measure all other potential partners:

Is this supposed to be different than the steady? I'm too slow a joiner/writer for there to be a summer fling fandom lol. I like to inhabit a fandom for like a year or more before I even begin to think about writing.

The one you recently met at a party and would like to get to know better:

God. Nothing recent. I literally didn't turn my TV on for 2 months.

The old flame that you wouldn't totally object to hooking up with again for a one night romp if only they'd clean up a bit:

This implies an on going canon that's lost its way...

Your hot new flame:

Well it's not new but it's still very much a flame: MCU

The one who stole your significant other:

This is like the one who slept with all my friends lol. Same thing!

I have learned to be zen-like when everyone goes gaga over something i have no interest in

ooommmmm

In other news, I am STILL writing the Steve gen story. It's closer to being done? Kinda sorta? It is the most self-induldgent fix-it story ever. :D I love it like pie. Thank god for killabeez who is kind and says things to me like "girl this is a lot of words" lol. sob, I know.
