Just Can't Get Enough O' That Bitching
I just remembered what else I was gonna write. I've pretty much had it with FFXI. No, that's not it. I guess I'm just done with it in general. I think the problem with it is that I've hit a wall. I can't level up without a party, and I can't get a party. Whoever says White Mages don't even have to try to find parties is full of shit. I've sat at the entrance to La Thienne for THREE HOURS with my party flag up. I finally had to form a party with two other white mages and go around beating up goblin fishers in order to keep form wasting any more time. I am not making this up.
At first I thought it was kinda funny, but then it happened again. And again. And again. My character doesn't suck, or at least I don't think she does, so what's the effin' deal? I was going to try to form up some sort of "adopt a white mage" program, but I really don't think it's worth my time.
I think the big pooblem with the game is that once you hit lv. 10 or so you really can't go any further without a party. In IRO I at least could wander around and beat up theif bugs and get SOME XP. Granted, it was slower than joining a party and taking on some tougher stuff, but it was at least possible to solo. My acolyte (the IRO equivelant of a white mage) was actually pretty respectable by the time I stopped playing (I didn't really want to pay to play, as opposed to now, where I'm paying to NOT play) and I got most of my levels SOLO. Am I missing something? is that what the allure of these games is? Doing JACK SQUAT? I really hope I didn't shell out $200+ for this bullshit.
I would think about changging class, but the appeal of the WHM was that every party should have one. That meant I could get away with being a shy person, as people would ask me to join their party- not the other way around.
The other thing that irks me about FFXI is that it punishes you for (god forbid) having a life. If you for some reason or another can't log on for a week, or god forbid, a month (remember the flaming-electrical-hole-in-wall incident?) you are now a burdeon to all your regular parties. What level are you now, Bob? I'm still lv.11 Wanna party up? I know i'm about as useful as a hole in your head but... No? Ah, I see...
So, what am I missing? If someone could just let me know I'd really appreciate it.
