What Happens in Vegas....

So I just got back from Vegas today. Well, technically I got back Sunday night...but my brain just got here sometime today. I'm not sure what time she arrived, but I just turned around and there she was!

This trip was BY FAR the best time I have ever had in Vegas. In fact, I was saying that to my friends Gary and Kelli before I was even there for 24 hours.

When we got there on Friday night, we cleaned up and had dinner. Then we hit the casinos for a bit and ended up at this really amazing outdoor club in front of Harrah's. They had world-champion bartenders working there, so whenever you ordered a drink (besides beer), they would throw the bottles and ice all over the place. (Remember Tom Cruise in "Cocktail"? This was like that movie on speed.) Anyway, after we got our first round of drinks, we pretty much headed straight to the dance floor where they had this fantastic 80's cover band called "The Reflex" playing. Strangely enough, they never played any Duran Duran, but they were awesome. I don't think I've ever danced so much in one night in my life. I started off dancing with Gary and Kelli, and then I ended up dancing with just about every person in the club at one point or another. There was one point where this guy started dancing with me that got a bit too fresh for me, so I looked over at this group of guys that were dancing near me and mouthed the words "SAVE ME" to them...before I knew it, two of them had moved in on me and completely aced "fresh guy" out of the picture. He didn't give up easily, but he eventually went away. I ended up dancing with my knights in shining armor for pretty much the rest of the night...they were great guys. They knew how to have a good time and flirt, but they were gentlemen and they didn't go overboard. AND they bought me drinks...there isn't a faster way to my heart that I can think of. OH! And I was totally into the lead guitar player in the band (which Gary and Kelli thought was hysterical, because he was like, 50 years old), but he was still hot. He would lean into me and let me strum the guitar while he did the fret work. I think he knew he was driving me crazy.

Gary kept getting accosted by this really big drunk girl (I got pictures). She would come up from behind and grind him- and she just wouldn't leave him alone! Kind of like the guy I was dancing with at first, except she was bigger, and she wasn't sticking her hands into Gary's underwear. Gary called his situation being "dance assassinated", or "dassassinated" for short. The next time she "dassassinated" him, she actually came up behind him and pretty much got him in a Full Nelson...I turned to Kelli and said that I thought she was going to fall down...by the time I turned around she was already on the floor and she had taken Gary with her. I was laughing so hard I thought I was gonna pee. It took 5 men to get her up off the ground. She was rolling around like a drunk walrus. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of that.

I guess at some point (and I don't exactly remember this), but I told Gary and Kelli it was time to go, and then I proceeded to kiss all of the guys that I had been dancing with. That actually doesn't bother me as much as you would think it would- they were all so nice and fun to hang out with.

Anyway, the rest of the weekend was fun, but nothing specific really worth mentioning...oh...except on Saturday I went back to the club by myself and "fresh guy" was there again. He wouldn't leave me alone even after I asked him nicely, so I ended up elbowing him in the ribs and running out of the club. My friend Shawn said it was nice to know I could still kick ass, but I don't know...my elbow just stopped hurting today.

I guess this is a long enough entry at this point. I don't really expect anyone to read it, actually...I'm recording it more for posterity than anything. Thank you, Gary and Kelli, for making my trip so great.

And I'm REALLY looking forward to Kelly's birthday party this weekend...
