* For all it's physical difficulties, today was productive. Apparently I'd sensibly stored the death certificate with the essential housing papers. I finished all the paper bureaucracy except for going through a stack where I know three papers I need are and talking Squirrel into printing something out. Next week I'll do the drive around town in person bureaucracy, as all of that's liable to be closed until Tuesday.
There is no money for the traditional New ears Eve pizza anymore than there was for the traditional Christmas Eve Chinese food, but the nausea and lung meds were worth it, as I stop functioning without either.
* Vikings this week left me with many questions, but chief of them are the snakes.
Seriously, how did King Aelle happen to have enough poisonous snakes to fill a pit just lying around his Northumbrian palace? Yes, they had boats, but what are the odds of a merchant ship full of (I'm assuming, I'm not a herpetologist) African snakes happening to turn up in North England right in time? I'm thinking zero. Odds are he had to put word out to every merchant vessel using his ports for like a decade or more that he wanted poisonous snakes and periodically some captain would spot some in a North African bizarre and buy them special just for weird king Aelle with the poison snake fetish. And how did he keep all those snakes healthy in a chilly Northern environment with early medieval tech. Like feeding the mice and rats would be easy, but keeping them in baskets with no modern heat sources in that quantity alive, healthy, and with no one getting killed feeding/watering them and handling them during basket cleaning? For possibly decades in hopes to have Ragnar Lothbrok fall into his hands so he can drop him in a snake pit? Seriously? Like one or two or maybe three or four, but a pits worth?
* Is it just me or is the plot for nearly every episode of the Last Kingdom until Iseult shows up: Someone gives Uhtred good and sensible political/diplomatic advice. Uhtred pig headedly not merely ignores the advice, but does the opposite as obnoxiously as he can possibly manage and then is sullen and rebellious because he is predictably punished for doing whatever stupid thing he did to spite the people trying to help him?

- The Perfect Mate. Ferengi being horrible and sexist. Creepy humans. A woman treated as an object who only exist to pleasure men. Eeeeew. Who's personality shifts dramatically depending on the men around her. Eeeeeeeeeew! Serious questions about consent going in multiple directions. Props to Beverly Crusher on her feminist saltiness. Seriously this episode is fucking creepy both from the Watsonian and Doylist perspective. Judging from what I've seen of the Ambassador, I think they should have sent a male meta-morph, which would also be creepy, mind. I'm just saying they should have queried about sexual preferences before sending someone. Why weren't the Ferengi arrested after the first breaking and entering and attempted kidnap? They wouldn't be assaulting diplomats if they'd been locked up for attempted kidnap.
- Imaginary Friend. Mostly a plot retread only with girls, and borderline triggery for me.
