Weather...

I have had a NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) weather radio  for a number of years, mostly to keep track of tornado warnings (and other severe weather). I am a firm believer in heading for the basement to live another day, should a tornado come my way, and I get impatient when I hear fatalistic talk about not heeding weather warnings, and what will be, will be, blah blah blah.  However, in my efforts to clean my condo up for sale, I put the weather radio away. Who needs it to predict tornados in the middle of winter, right? : )   So I wake up for work last night to hear on the news that there is a tornado in McLean county, and I didn't know about it. I have no idea if the outside sirens went off. This was a little disconcerting for me. After work this morning, I went to the grocery store and bought a new 9volt back-up battery to put in the NOAA radio, and set that puppy back out again, clutter or no clutter.

On a similar note...The new window well shield that I installed a couple of months ago held up beautifully. Not a drop of moisture came through the basement window, despite the driving rains. After I got home from work this morning, I put away groceries, then headed down to the basement to see what the damage was (I had heard reports from the in-coming day-shift nurses of flooded basements). I was so pleased to see a bone dry basement that when I called my realtor, I made sure to point this out!

Which leads to...the reason I called my realtor was to get the phone number of a house inspector to assess the house I'm interested in buying (yeah, I know---better late than never). I called the lady who is keeping the key to the house (the owner is currently residing in soggy California right now) to see when she can open the house, then contacted the inspector, then they talked to each other and got back to me. I'll get to enter the house for the report Thursday morning.

Still haven't heard any further nibbles from the person showing an interest in buying my place. Maybe she lost interest, maybe she's procrastinating because of the holidays, maybe she couldn't swing it financially. Don't know....
