I originally did not want to see 300 because it seemed like a shallow gore-fest. But I've been seeing it EVERYWHERE. TV. People talking about it. Reading two articles and a review in Entertainment Weekly.
I guess it makes sense that I keep running into people who have seen it or want to see it because it made 70 million on it's opening weekend. Which is HELLA money for the opening weekend of movie that
a) is rated R
b) opens in March
c) is based on a little known (for non-comic-ers) graphic novel
d) is blatantly advertised as violent and actiony with little to no thinking involved (arguable)
I'm gonna make sure that I see it over spring break. And Zodiac as well. I'll likely bus to Mayfair and make a day of it. ?. Or see just 300 and just walk to The Oriental. Whatever.
I was pretty frustrated last night cuz things with Jeremy/Dan kinda fell through. And pretty much everyone is busy all the time it seems. I never do anything even remotely social on Saturdays unless Jeremy is over at the house and I talk to him. Allie is in a faraway land. Ben and I don't do that anymore. Things with Nate are weird at best. Adam moved away/back to his mom's house. Mike always has things going on on the weekends. Kahara is in New York (one time blocker, obviously). Kyle is shirtless and at bars. Assorted Tablers live not on this side of town and/or don't drive.
So yeah. My social life outside of school days is a cripple. Which explains why I stay so late just to see people, cuz it's our most convenient way to hang out. lol/sigh.
I did however go grocery shopping last night. 90 dollars. But I have so much food. My cup is runneth-ing over, so it will easily last me a month. And I bought a bunch of vegetables and fruit so I'm not getting bored/filled with grain and sugar all the time...
Dan and I talked for like an hour or so and then we watched something I DVRed off of Logo about gays in rural areas. It was almost interesting. And this morning when I awoke on the couch I decided that there needed to be some Strangers on a Train because I've really been itching to watch Alfred Hitchcock movies lately. That and the extended version has super mild gay undertones. And we all know how much I love those. Actually, that's one of the reasons my interest in 300 piqued further was because I found out that Xerxes was a glam rock Persian ruler who wants so subdue Leonidas's army and his boy-core.
Just sayin'.
I managed to keep my cool at work this weekend. I didn't get upset at, like, anyone. Today was a half shift for no good reason so I just put stuff out on the floor with Josh while testy people prowled around like roaring lions waiting for us to put away pots and pans. Chill the fuck out, people, by the way.
And when my mom arrived to pick me up she had a home-made reuben sandwhich and bag of frozen dinners for me. What's not to like.
Hmm... Ben is dying of a migrain right now... I had to go get him some pills and water. And turn off the light. And my music. So computing is losing it's appeal. I really wanted to check Facebook tonight as well... but I guess I'll retire to the living room or something. Not that the sound of the TV won't be like an army marching through his ears, but I'm pretty sure I've earned some control seeing how he's been hogging the bedroom all weekend with his vomiting and dirty laundry and all-around smelling.
