For those of you who don't know, I had a huge celebration for my five year anniversary of being in remission yesterday. While I knew I was having this party, I had nothing to do with the planning process, and most of the details were kept secret. I walked into the room at The Tun Tavern with Gregg leading at me (he insisted I close my eyes), and then I heard all this applause. Words couldn't begin to describe the state of shock I was in as I looked at a room full of people who came to celebrate. I was amazed. My family from Syracuse came to surprise me, some of my co-workers, lots of friends and friends parents, co-workers, people from Ramapo, even a former teacher. I was so incredibly surprised and touched by all the people in my life that came out to celebrate.
My friends arranged for business owners they know to donate stuff towards a raffle, made t-shirts that they sold to guests and waitresses, and ended up raising $1400 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
I tried to formulate the best thank you speech I could that night, and I don't know if I got accross how truly grateful I am to have friends like you all, and how much it means to have everyone in my life. I love you all!
