Well, I went to the club today for the first time in several weeks. I had been so busy cleaning, organizing, and decorating my apartment; painting furniture and walls, sewing slipcovers for the cushions I made by cutting up old foam mattresses, making window treatments, etc., that I just hadn't had time to socialize.
So I got there today and doncha just know that my two closest club friends, Sheryl and Jeanette opted out today and weren't there! Sheesh!
The club was painted by the membership a coupla weeks ago and it looks really nice. An odd color to be sure. It's called "Harvest Wheat", I call it true khaki. It's kinda greenish tan, but it really looks good.
A few of us went to Wal-Mart for a hit and run with Debbie, club facillitator. I got a few groceries, and knobs and handles for my newly painted cabinets to change the look from Danish Modern to English Country. I'm just about to put them on.
Debbie drove me home, instead of B.J. cause she wanted to see what I had done to the apartment. The last time she was here, she delivered the metal full sized bed she gave me for the guestroom. ( The apartment was still a shambles then). I have since painted
the bed bronze. It had been hospital white.
On the way here, I spied a fox in a field at quite a distance, but clear enough that we stopped and observed it for a good five minutes. The other day, on the way to Syracuse, Mina, the kids and I saw a Ringneck Pheasant along the side of the road, and a plethora of hawks along our route.
I always enjoy seeing the wildlife that shares this beautiful area with us Homo Sapiens.
Growing up on L.I. it was easy to feel so disconnected from the other creatures that share our space. I frequently see a vast array of wildlife here: Hawks, Pileated Woodpeckers, deer, possum, fox, coyotes, Great Blue Herons, and I know there have been black bear, puma, and wolf sightings, as well as river otter, raccoons, and beaver, which I have yet to see. Oh yeah, and of course skunk, squirrels, and chipmunks.
Personally, I love being aware that I am part of the web of life, and am always thrilled by a wildlife sighting. Today's was special. I usually see fox as roadkill, not my first choice
of viewing options!
So, the day ended on an up note. It really doesn't take much to make me happy.
