I should be reading . . .
I was listening to "Fly" again and started revising Az's anniversary sketch (I need to rescan and resend). Then I listened to the damn song AGAIN and started drawing . . . and came up with the STRANGEST, most bizarre conceptual sketch for Echoes in Stillness.
For those uninformed, Echoes in Stillness is one of those Ancient Egypt arc Yu-Gi-Oh ideas. The premise is VERY AU - shamelessly so. In THAT fic (when I get to it), Atem (or Atum <--- more on THAT little tidbit later - learning Ancient Egyptian history has totally changed my outlook on the series) - finally - receives his memories which sparks everyone else's memories. Tea's past incarnation's history is not pretty, and she's not dealing well. Neither is Seto.
Anyway, the planned structure of the fic is to outline parallels between the past and present -- for instance, in the prologue, Masika (Tea's previous incarnation) is born at the Nile's banks and in the first chapter, Tea's life takes an unexpected turn that forces her to reinvent herself (a rebirth if you will).
The reason it's AU (aside from the obvious)? Everyone's ages are messed with in a MAJOR way (not in the present timeline). Masika and P. Seto are 19 and 20 respectively while Mohab (Mokuba) is 5 or 6 and a foundling, Atum is 15 and not even acting as pharaoh yet. Ma'at (Mai) is Atum's older sister (and wife). Their uncle is acting as regent (I'll give you ONE guess as to who THAT is).
And I'm totally throwing out the "5000 years ago" deal cuz if that were TRUE then Egypt would have not been unified or JUST unified -- there was no pharaoh as we know it.
I've been doing art for this story-that-will-never-be-written since BEFORE I started Playing Tag -- mostly Masika character sketches and conceptual sketches. It just so happens that I really wanna redraw this one ^_^ For it I resurrected a made-up chara from my deadfic The Cenayan Prophecy. I just wish I knew where the hell the idea came from O.O It's really bizarre.
Ugh, I hope I get to write this fic if only to justify all the trees I've killed producing art for it. And all the reading time I've wasted as a result >-<
Plus, there's the ONE SINGLE SCENE that I absolutely must release for public consumption!!!!!!! I MUST! Not because it's good or anything but because it shocked the hell outta me when I was outlining it (I have very dark thoughts). Too bad that one scene is like in chapter 20 . . . and there are only 20 chapters (and a prologue and an epilogue) planned ;-;
Damn it. I have too many fic ideas.
