Shoe Size Woes

Aug 26, 2006 19:02

It is a relatives-known fact that my mother can literally disappears in a shoe shop, she loves shoes, and it is uncanny how at every sell every shoe she picks up at a sale not only suits her but is well, really on sale.

I must confess that I feel that it's 'unfair', like all the good-shoe-luck of the family went to her, which is psychotic and makes no sense, but for god's sake, how come all the pretty round-front dainty shoes I set my eyes on are several sizes smaller...my mother's size. It's not fair!!! Waah wah waaaah. I'm like a very average size 7, how come I could almost never find shoes that I both like and fit? I like a lot of shoes too...not as much as my mother, when I do care about fashion it's skirts I love wearing...but I like a lot of shoes that won't fit me even if I cut off my big toe (not that I've even considered it even in passing, I need those for balance because most trails aren’t smooth!). Urgh.

Lately it seem to be the opposite, summer had brought with it tons of lovely sandals...all of which are ONE size too big for me. Like, a month or two ago I was at some Asian mini-mall, and I saw this pair of gorgeous sandal set with stones, good quality leather, Handcrafted In Italy, and totally on sale! The saleslady was eager to get rid of it because it was The Last, and told me to try it on anyways, but I couldn't walk in it because it was just a big kind of size 8, !@#$%^*.

...and it happened again today, another pseudo-sandal I like, tons of size 8s, some 9, 10, absolutely no size 7. On the bright side though, my mother did pick out these two slippers-like sandals by Tradition that fits me, another Made In Italy thing, real leather, regular price $45-55, but was on sale for $9.99, and with the scratch and save, at the end of it all both shoes after taxes were no more than ten dollars, wow. So winter is still coming but I can still get some wear out of them and then there is next summer. If it looks good on me I don't care if it's from last year's walkway.

...but since winter is coming, I need something that is 'presentable', I need to be able to work in it but I need something non-shabby as well. I think barring exams-of-doom I'm going to see if I can hop over to Alberta this winter holiday...I will phone in ahead to see if there is an opening of course that could afford me a two-weeks dwelling...but that will be a concern for late November!

shoes, whine
