Three Four things make a post, right?

I'm voluntarily breaking my heart by watching "Victoria's Secret" again, for reasons having to do with the 20th anniversary of due South on the 23rd of this month. (Their anniversary is on Shakespeare's death date? This seems oddly appropriate somehow.) God, this episode hurts.

Sword class is turning out to be a great deal of fun, if a little hard on my elbows. To my vast amusement, my inner Aidan keeps surfacing, when it's not my inner Connor. (I'm worrying some of the teenagers with my comments. Oops?)

Upon reflection, I think the movie title for Cap 2 was just a little wrong. It should have been Captain America: The Winter Soldiers. Because the name, Winter Soldier, came partly from the Russian winters, and partly from cold-blooded killers, and partly from this quote:

"THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered;yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.

...

The present winter is worth an age, if rightly employed; but, if lost or neglected, the whole continent will partake of the evil; and there is no punishment that man does not deserve, be he who, or what, or where he will, that may be the means of sacrificing a season so precious and useful." (Thomas Paine, American Crisis.)

Making the title plural would have had us wondering if there was more than one Winter Soldier, as the Black Widow program in the comics turned out to have. And in the end, the plural would have been appropriate because a great many people in this movie did what they thought they had to do, regardless of the cost. Particularly Steve, and Bucky who'd been programmed into the perfect winter soldier who couldn't even think of not serving, but the title also applied to Sam, Natasha, Fury, Hill, that poor computer tech, Agent 13... a hell of a lot of people. ::sighs:: It's possible some of HYDRA thought they were right, come to that.

Last, and most minor, is anyone else playing Dark Manor? If so, what's your Id there? I'm at 2 High Flyers Lane.

Okay back to watching this ep. God. They did a good job of it.
