FYI: Difference Between Talismans & Amulets

I have found that it is very easy to confuse a talisman and an amulet. Many people use the two terms interchangeably. Amulets can be hand made or be a Nature made. They serve a general purpose to repel or protect the wearer/carrier. Also an amulet is naturally endowed with magickal properties that last for an indefinate time period. Talismans are the other hand are almost always man made. They are created for a specific reason to attract wealth, harmony, and happiness or to enable the wearer/carrier with powerful transformations. A magickal "charging" is required that usually lasts a period consisting of a year and one day. However, some grimoires claim a talisman's "lifespan" is three, five, seven, or nine years. Traditionally talismans are to be laid to rest in the soil of Mother Earth or cast into the ocean after it has served it's purpose.
