Very, very cold here in Providence (25F, feels like 14F) with an overcast sky.

Yesterday, I wrote 1,858 words on Chapter Three (3) of The Drowning Girl. As it stands, I'm 20,970 words into the manuscript, which means I'm probably somewhere between one third and one quarter of my way to THE END, if upon this book's completion it's going to look ( Read more... )

Jude is one of those rare movies that I absolutely love, but can't bear to watch again. It was, indeed, devastating.

Not sure I could ever watch it again, either.

This was my second time seeing it. The first was over a decade ago. I may be able to watch it again in another ten years.

This is a rather arbitrary question (that may have been answered previously in the journal but I missed it) is Two Worlds and In Between a reference to the Sisters of Mercy song Lucretia?

I only ask because funnily enough, a friend and I recently did a reworking/cover of that song for fun (turning it into a sort of NOLA blues thing) so the lyrics have been stuck in my head.

Kind of popped out when I read that.

Yes, the Draenai area is the same. I'm equally disappointed that they didn't update those areas. I'm also seriously annoyed that they didn't change the Death Knight starting area either, from what I could tell. I'm thinking they might update them in the next major patch. Maybe that's more hope than anything, though.

The effect is that we have two timelines running concurrently.

Agreed, Kraken is a very funny book.

That facet of it surprised me more than it probably should have. All the same, marvelous.

I've compared it to a 1970s police/caper television series. I'm sorta baffled why people want to tack "Lovecraftian" to it. Well, I'm not really baffled. It has a squid, but really outside of that, there's really no relation.

Except for people worshiping an octopoid/tuethid god, and direct allusions to Cthulhu...
