"Look harder, say it's done. Black days and a dying sun."

Overcast today. There won't really be any sun until Wednesday or thereabouts. Currently, it's 48˚F, with the windchill at 44˚F. I didn't sleep much last night. maybe four hours.

Yesterday, I wrote 1,056 words on a new story for Sirenia Digest 134, having decided to shelve "But I Will Do Thee Mischief in the Wood" and finish it once the March issue of the digest is out. Then I'll go back to it and finish it for a ghost story anthology I've been asked to write for. I was afraid I wouldn't have time, but fuck it, I'm making time.

It's hard to believe that 2017 is the 20th anniversary of one of my favorite films, The Fifth Element (dir. Luc Besson). I saw it nine times in the theater and countless times since. The film was released on May 7th, so, I know what I'll be doing this May 7th.

There was some considerable relief here yesterday, when Trump withdrew his attempt to destroy the ACA to avoid the shame of another defeat. Spooky still has healthcare. I was amused at Trump blaming the Democrats, when the GOP controls both the House and Senate and it was pro-ACA Republicans who would have blocked the legislation. Not only is Trump a bad winner. He's a hellishly bad loser, which is truly unfortunate, given all the losing he's doing these days. Muslim travel ban? Not happening. Repeal of the ACA? Not happening. Impeachment for treason? I think that's gonna happen before much longer. Really, the only things Trump has proven himself skilled at is inciting hatred, hassling immigrants, costing tax payers a fortune, and playing golf. And, actually, I've heard he's not a very good golfer.

Last night, there was new RuPaul's Drag Race, but we made the mistake of trying to watch it in real time on VH-1 (it moved there from Logo), and the commercials sort of ruined the episode. So, we'll be watching it again after getting it from Amazon, and that's how we'll watch all the rest. I do not know how people can bear TV commercials. We also watched the new episode of The Expanse, which continues to impress, and then we watched Morten Tyldum's Passengers, with Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. It's not a great film, but I found it very enjoyable. The ending veered into the absurd, in order to keep shit happy, and I really wish that hadn't been the case. A more somber ending would have been more appropriate. And whatever that horrid song was that played over the end credits, we had to mute that shit. There was Millennial warbling and whooping, whatever it was.

Okay. Gotta get to work.

Resistance, Peace, and Compassion,
Aunt Beast
