Well the little timer on the main page says it's been seven weeks since I've posted in here. I've been completely overwhelmed with stuff lately, enough to warrant a post. I think the best way to do this would be to organize it by category:
JOB: I lost it on February 12. Technically they fired me, but I was already looking for a new job and planned to quit as soon as I found something suitable. Unfortunately, the bosses decided that I wasn't performing as well as I could. Well I'm sorry, it's not my fault that I have to rely on someone else to make a sale in order for me to "perform." I'm happy to be rid of DirectBuy. Ugh. I have had about a dozen interviews in the past four weeks. I've had one offer that I decided to turn down because door-to-door sales is the absolute LAST thing I would do...and I'm not sure I'd do it even if it came to that point. I have four pretty decent prospects: Comcast for Customer Account Executive/Billing Rep, DeVry (yes, again) for Financial Aid Advisor, a place called PlaneTechs for an administrative assistant position, and an auto dealer for a data entry position. For Comcast I've made it through the group interview and both sets of testing, and I have a face-to-face interview this Thursday. I believe after that point I'll know if they want to hire me. I think I have a pretty good chance. It's my number 1 choice, unless the auto place decides to pay me $20 an hour (which I doubt will happen but it's a possibility). Plus with Comcast there are really good benefits and incentives and room to grow. Since it's a big company, it's likely that I will be able to transfer when Derek and I move. I broke down and filed for unemployment today. I still have to wait two weeks before I can even call to see if I can receive benefits.
WEDDING: We sent out the invitations today!!! I told Derek that now it really does have to happen, lol. We are just over two months out. We've been tasting cakes lately too. Everything is falling into place and it's starting to seem more real. *cue mushiness* I can't believe that in a couple of months I'll be a married woman! We aren't going to be able to take a honeymoon right away, so for those of you who plan to stay the majority of the weekend, there will probably be some gaming going on. If anyone wants to run a game, let me or Derek know and we'll figure out a place and time. Oh, and if you haven't already, check out our wedding website here:
Gretchen & Derek Well, I suppose that's all for now. Wish me luck in my job search. Until then, I'll be playing housewife. Yuck.
