 Today assignment was to write a poem about your mother's kitchen, which for some reason needed to include something dead. She probably wanted us to write happy cookie poems. So of course I wrote about murder and abuse.

 Okay, so yesterday the assignment in creative writing was to write a poem about a childhood memory that you buried, possibly traumatic. Well, I don't have any of those, but I have been rehearsing a monologue about abortion. So I wrote an abortion poem.

Today, my creative writing teacher passed out the poem The Jabberwocky, by Louis Carroll. I freaked out, because right now I am obsessed with Alice on syfy. Anywho, our assignment was then to write a poem like Carroll's using words we'd never heard from the dictionary. So, here is my poem.

My creative writing teacher just taught us about found poetry, which is when you make a poem out of something someone's already written. I wanted to write a Sanctuary found poem, but I couldn't find any quotes online!
