On Sunday, Anna, Kyle, and I went to the Obon Festival in the Palo Alto Buddhist Temple.   Obon is a Japanese holiday held to "honor the departed spirits of one's ancestors."   In the diluted, mostly nisei Japanese community of Palo Alto, the festival unsurprisingly feels a bit like a tourist attraction/advertisement for the temple/local talent ( Read more... )

We did quite a few fun things this summer...

Anna, Kyle, Jaclyn, and I went to Berkeley to see Miyazaki get interviewed by a prof; there, I also saw Tomoya--I had forgotten how tall he is and how strongly he smells of Old Spice.  There were forced smiles and of course, a lack of conversation.
