Mandatory update?

Halfway through my vacation and I finally feel like posting something. Probably best in bullet points.

• Took the week off after the Summer Institute. Not sure what kicked my ass so hard this year but it started the day they turned the clocks back in December of 2010. The suddenness of walking out of work and it being pitch dark ( Read more... )

Went to the traditional get together at my aunt's house. Each year it seems to get smaller. Not sure why. I miss the times when there were so many people in the house you practically couldn't move. People seem to be breaking off into satellite groups now. Times they are a-changing ( Read more... )

Just looked out the window and {almost} see my car. Now I have to decide whether I {need} to go anywhere. If I do, then I have to dig out the car from the snow.

Dinner last night had ½ as many people as originally planned. Just means there were more leftovers.

Most of my LJ friends are preparing to celebrate Christmas. But my celebration comes early on Monday, the Solstice. And even earlier is the dinner, on Saturday. And as I'm the cook, this is my crazy week.

Well I think I gave Beverly the best Solstice present ever. Ever since her VCR died she's been unable to catch any of the shows on while she's at work (she works noon to nine).

Sooo, I ordered up a DVR from the Dish Network.

She's a very happy camper now.

And by the looks of it the thing will record 100 hours worth of material. Not bad.

And so ends the 16th annual Solstice dinner. And I can't believe that I was actually able to seat eight people in this tiny three room apartment ( Read more... )

The Solstice has just gotten more difficult.

A few years ago we decided that Bad Santa would be our annual Holiday movie. Seemed like a good choice at the time.

But last year something else came around that made it very difficult to follow through.
