I can take apart the remote control and I can almost put it back together

I've been feeling all sorts of wanderlust-y lately largely due to watching The Brothers Bloom (which was filmed entirely in Eastern Europe) twice in one week. The movie itself was excellent; it's basically a fairy tale about con men written and directed by the same guy who did Brick (I am suddenly a huge fan of his now, he's only made two movies and I love them both. Here's hoping his next one is as good).

I've been thinking about Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Czech Republic and Slovenia. I will be going to Europe at some point in the spring. I will! And I'm going to try to fit in at least two of those countries (Montenegro and Croatia being the priorities at this point. I mean, I'd love to go to Prague again (watching scenes filmed in that city make me sigh with longing like nothing else) but I've been to the Czech Republic twice and I do really enjoy going places I haven't been before.

Oh, and if I didn't make it clear enough what with my travel-babble and all: Go watch The Brothers Bloom! It is a great film.

Further adventures in media I have consumed (TV update):

House is one of the few shows I'm actually making an effort to stay up to date with (though I haven't see this week's yet 'cause T was away) I continue to love House but not have much to say (largely because I say all of that kind of stuff to T while we're watching). I'm glad that Thirteen's back. I missed her.

Bored To Death is definitely my favorite new show this year. I just love watching Jason Schwartzman on my tv. The season's already over (only eight eps) but I hear it's been picked up for a second season and I'm sure I'll end up watching the whole thing over again before then. (The premise is, in case I haven't mentioned it, JS is a writer who's not really working on his second book but instead semi-incompetently but completely amusingly, moonlighting as a (unlicensed) private detective.)

Friday Night Lights. I'm a week behind on FNL not because I'm not into it but because I want to savor it. So good. I'm loving the new characters, the old characters, everything they're doing with them, everything about the show period. These small sentences do not come any where near adequately expressing my love for this show.

Supernatural. I'm a couple weeks behind, but I'm also not unspoiled (am spoiled?). Haven't watched the fancon one yet but know of it's existence blah, blah blah. I'm not all that psyched on SPN anymore which makes me kind of sad. I don't not like Castiel I'm just not into the whole angel/God thing. I miss the monsters of the week. And I'm really disappointing that the Trickster is actually an angel. I he was one of my favorite MotWs and I feel like the whole angel thing just cheapens it. Ah, well. At least I've got DW to obsess over now.

Dexter, Californication, Castle. I'm way behind on all three of them but quite enjoying them all.

Doctor Who I LOVED Waters of Mars! Looking forward to re-watching it sometime this weekend after having listened to the commentary podcast with RTD, Julie Gardner and DT (the podcast had some interesting stuff in it but mostly I loved it 'cause DT giggles every time he laughs and I can't help but laugh along making me look like a crazy person while walking down the street listening to it on my iPod. But thems the breaks).

The Time Lord victorious! Oh, Ten going off the rails is just so fucking great to me. I mean he is a Time Lord so can deal better than humans but, damn, he's been through some shit. It should be getting to him. The Time Lord victorious. Yes. Yes. (I have since been pushing Handlebars (Best DW vid. EVER.) on every RL Who fan I know 'cause WoM makes the vid even more amazing that it was before.)

It's really interesting to me to see what happens when the Doctor doesn't have a companion and how much the companions' influence actually, well, influences him. I mean I knew that but I think I'd forgotten just how much having someone there with him keeps him more human (or as human as a Time Lord can be). It's been a while since Donna and add to that the fact that he legitimately thinks he's going to die. Not regenerate but die. Lets just say that I am very excited about the next two DW specials. Very!
