Two movie related items:

1.) Tomorrow (Friday) night Heather will be out and I plan on ordering pizza and watching Frost/Nixon. Anyone interested in joining me?

2.) Moon comes out tomorrow. Must see.

Tomorrow (Sunday the 28th), for the first time in a couple of months, I have nothing planned. I was thinking of going to the movies - maybe Doubt, Milk, Timecrimes, Valkyrie, Frost/Nixon, or Synecdoche, NY. Anyone game?

A video store around the corner from us (corner of High and Macarthur, if you want in) is going out of business and selling their entire stock for $5 for DVDs and $1 for VHS. They didn't have a particularly exciting collection, but enough decent movies that for $63 I got ( Read more... )

The other night I took a break from studying to watch History of the World Part I. It occurred to me that the plot of the Roman segment feels a lot like a Marx Brothers movie, in that our heroes come together quickly and randomly, instantly transcending national and class distinctions to recognize each other as comrades who can take and make a joke ( Read more... )

The great thing about eye-candy action movies is, well, the action, the excitement. Sometimes an interesting what-if. Maybe it was the fact that I'd just finished listening to the audiobook of Order of the Phoenix, but the movie felt really rushed, like they were just barely touching on things and then passing on, like Mr. Weasley's attack. Last week I watched Minority Report again and it occurred to me: if it's possible to prevent all murders by showing up in time to stop them, why put people in jail/stasis? I mean it isn't like they're a danger to anyone - the very premise precludes it. It may mean a bit more work for detectives since the would-be killer might try again at some ( Read more... )
