This week in writing has been a slow slog through a somewhat flabby story. I sucked the fat out of the first draft, and I’m pretty much clueless as to how effective the story will be. I’m too close to it right now to have any insight. The plot is solid, I’m sure, but I’m hoping that when I come back to the third draft, I’ll have enough distance ( Read more... )

The Cyclist died on me just now. I was pulling too much of the guts out, and loosing what I needed to put back in. It’s a damn pity, because there was some nice writing in that draft. Well, I got Hide and Seek jack hammered into a second draft. Which is a nice feeling. I think the name will change too. It’s strange when you start a story from a seed of an idea, then the seed fades away, and is almost non existent when the story reaches it's final drafts. I could feasibly revisit that seed again and just try and write that story ( Read more... )
