Does anyone here have experience either hiring another graduate student to do translation work for you, or doing translation work for another grad student/faculty member?  If so, what was the rate at which you were paid, and do you consider this to be fair and reasonable compensation?  Also, does it matter what language is being translated?  (In my ( Read more... )

I'm about to start an anthropology PhD program in the fall. In order to get my MA, I need to test proficient in a language. The language that I'll need for my field work is a an African local language, and let's face it, there are so many ways to survive in a foreign country such that one's motivation to learn the language can dwindle.
