I'm about to start an anthropology PhD program in the fall. In order to get my MA, I need to test proficient in a language. The language that I'll need for my field work is a an African local language, and let's face it, there are so many ways to survive in a foreign country such that one's motivation to learn the language can dwindle. Have you all thought of what you're going to do if you can't secure a teaching job after graduation? Don't kill me, but I have an undergraduate degree in anthropology and am not in graduate school yet.
