It wasn't unusual for Ashleigh and Sam to set up a lunch date. It wasn't ideal but, sometimes, mealtimes were the only down time they had during the day. Having a rushed Charms classroom picnic with her cousin was much better than eating in the Great Hall and not getting any Sam-time at all ever.
Besides, this particular lunch wasn't even about eating -- Ashleigh had news to share with the younger girl. Which, she'd probably not hid very well when she'd asked Sam to meet her for lunch the evening before. She'd been rather excited and it had been clear that Ashleigh was after more than one of their normal lunches.
Usually, they would have raided the Great Hall or the kitchens together (passing up real food for sweets). Today, however, Ashleigh had already gotten sandwiches, crisps, butterbeer and chocolate chip cookies. The food was displayed on her desk and there were two chairs behind it rather than the normal one.
Ashleigh was sitting in her chair, leaned over her desk as she graded a few papers to pass the time. Sam should arrive any minute but she shouldn't stop being productive simply because she had plans. Besides, if she did a few now, she'd have a few less to grade later that evening.
