Brian was having fun. For the first time in many years he was having fun and enjoying himself.
They had ended up going to a local club that was very popular with high school kids. Matt stuck close to Brian, basking in the feeling of pure joy. The rest of the guys soon made themselves at home on the dance floor.
Brian smiled at Jimmy and Johnny, who were shamelessly dancing intimately in the middle of the dance floor. He silently pitied the poor man he saw Zacky dancing with out of the corner of his eye.
“Bri, do you want to dance with me?” Matt asked, watching Brian’s reaction closely.
Heat bloomed across Brian’s cheeks as he grabbed Matt’s hand and let himself be led onto the dance floor. Brian kept his head down hoping to hide the blush spreading from his cheeks.
Matt came to a stop and turned around. A slow song came on as soon as he stopped. Wrapping his arms around Brian’s waist, he started to gently rock their bodies to the slow steady beat.
Brian laid his head on Matt’s chest and placed his arms around Matt’s shoulders. He relished in the feel of Matt’s warm gently embrace, knowing he wouldn’t get to feel that way for a long time.
He couldn’t bring himself to let Matt or any of the other guys closer to him, especially Matt. He had been hurt too many times in the past.
Matt couldn’t help himself. Brian looked so beautiful and perfect that he had to place a warm tender kiss upon his soft lips.
Tensing slightly, Brian soon melted into the unexpected kiss.
“Get a room lovebirds.”
Brian broke the kiss and snapped his head to the side. Blushing furiously at Jimmy and Johnny’s smiling faces.
“You two should take your own advice.” Matt chuckled, “You guys just had to ruin the moment didn’t you?”
“Yup.” Johnny cheered.
Shaking his head at Johnny’s antics, Brian took a step backwards and looked at Matt’s face. The intense emotions in his eyes terrified him. “I’m going outside for a bit, ok?”
“Are you sure?” Matt asked as concern filled his face.
“Yeah. I won’t be out for long.” Brian said, kissing Matt quickly on the cheek before heading out the door. Glancing back at Matt before going out, he saw Matt’s body frozen in shock.
Brian readily welcomed the cool air that caressed his heated face. He glanced around the alley, making sure that he was alone before leaning up against the wall. Closing his eyes, Brian lost himself to his thoughts.
What am I going to d? Brian thought. Matt has put me through hell for years. Now he cares for me all of the sudden. No one changes their attitude towards someone that quickly unless it’s out of pity. Pity is something I don’t need from anyone.
Sighing deeply, Brian pushed himself off the wall and headed towards the door. Just as he was about to open the door a voice he hadn’t heard in a long time spoke softy in his ear.
“It has been awhile Brian.”
Brian mechanically turned around and froze at the sight of the voice’s owner.
“No!”
