Classic on the streets of Las Palmas

One of the things that happen in the Canary Islands (which are "Spain" since the 1400, longer than Catalonia, for instance) is that back in the times before Spain joined the EEC, they had plenty of different things. Since they were a free port, they had plenty of stuff that was unavailable in Peninsular Spain. One of the most remarkable things they had was cars. Canarian classic cars include plenty of Toyotas (unknown in the rest of Spain until the 90s) and some gems like this Sunbeam Hunter. I had never seen this model in Spain before.

The car is also in a very remarkable condition despite the sun and the humidity of the "fortunate islands". So my guess is that it's been kept mostly indoors.

In addition, it was a cool wagon. The classic shape is awesome for such a 40-year old car.

Here's the badge

This car was heavily badge engineered as most of the British cars of the era. A quick search showed that the Sunbeam Hunter was the name used for export instead of the Hillman Hunter, which was the name I knew. In addition, this car also is somewhat related to Chrysler and a much later iteration arrived into Spain as the Chrysler 180
