As usual, we spent the holiday weekend at the_sheryl's parents in Boynton Beach. Except this time we had a 17-month old energetic toddler with us, which made life interesting. Boskone was good, if busy. I found myself on 6 program items - two concerts (my own and a kids' concert with mewsic), two performer's circles, a panel, and host for one theme filk. I got back into town early this morning after several days in Las Vegas for $EMPLOYER's annual trade show/board meeting. It was a successful trip, though as usual the schedule (I flew out Saturday afternoon) meant I did not get a holiday weekend. I do get comp days though, one of which I used today. The first full week of 2016 has definitely gone much better than the last week of 2015. Between not sleeping well on the guest bed in the_sheryl's parents' Florida condo, getting home late due to a 2-hour flight delay, and two nights I had trouble sleeping fretting about things I needed to get done at both work and home before the ball dropped in Times ( Read more... )

Thanks to a well-timed invitation to speak at a meeting of $EMPLOYER's Oregon chapter, held in Bend, I was able to make it to Saturday and Sunday of Conflikt. I had a great time, but the weekend was one big experiment in sleep deprivation.
