Mother's Day Weekend
Happy Mother's Day to everyone's Mom!
Was going to go to Lisa and Dan's Tiki Party but John is sick, Poppy is sick and Thomas' car has a flat over at college that we gotta deal with.
Did teach a workshop on Mulage (Disaster Reality Makeup) this morning. One lady attending fainted and had to be escorted out of the room. Otherwise, the Boy Scouts had a great time "injuring" each other. For the first hour, I lectured on how the body responds to trauma while working on my model (my husband). The second hour, the scouts got hands on practice with the make-up and doing the special effects. Strange conversations: "Oh sorry, I dropped coagulated blood on the dining table." "See how nicely human flesh tears away from the underlying tissue." "A closed head impact wound results in damage to the inner ear and thus, blood will run from the ear canal even if there is no sign of trauma." "If I don't bury the fish hook all the way through the arm, will I need a second opening, or can I just put a blood blister around the barb?"
No wonder the poor lady fainted.
