Field Day, 1234 and a nice Holiday

Wagwan, livejournal?

This past 2 weeks, I decided to take a nice holiday. A holiday back to 2003 that is. It's been nice actually, all the sights and sounds of the distant past. It all started with 1234 Shoreditch Festival, a festival that we genuinely believe to have been booked in 2003, with the likes of The Paddingtons, Selfish Cunt and Har Mar Superstar. Bumping into Political Alison, lovely Jasmine and Damien on the way, it was pretty much Past central there. Oh, then we went on to the Hoxton Hotel for the PPQ afterparty where Bioux proceeded to have a conversation with us. Well, with Vanessa as I did no talking and just stood there, death staring him. I hate that man.

There was a bouncer there who kept poking me in the stomache and saying "hey baby, you looking for me?". Does that ever work??

So anyway, after coming back to the future, I promptly returned to the past this weekend. Nessa and I went to Field Day were we met
helles
who I hadn't seen in a shamefully long time. There I saw/heard:

Good Books (rubbish... except the keyboardist... he's a genius)
Chromeo (my surprise hit of the day. Bloody fantastic)
Battles (rubbish)
Foals (rubbish.. disappointing rubbish)
1990s (didnt really see them. More heard them. Sounded exactly like I thought they'd sounded)
The Archie Bronson Outfit (alright)
Four Tet (bloody great, played all mi favs)
Filthy Dukes (no one was really listening but me and about 4 others. I heart them)
Justice (NOT on the main stage, but in the Myspace bus. Thats right. Justice. In a bus. A Routemaster to be exact. EPIC)

The I went to Camden and saw Dead Disco, JUST escaped having to watch Goodbooks again, got talking to goodbooks' biggest sodding fan (how does that always happen), left the Barfly, saw Noel Fielding (grunt), got in the back of a transit van filled with novelty hats (transit vans are very dark), went to the illegal boozer in Kentish Town, listened to a selection of 2003 hits, read some NME, watched some House and South Park and went to work on Sunday morning pas de sleep.

Luckily, on arriving at work, the client (ie the only reason I was there) was late. I had a little sleepy on the sofa and 'late' turned into 'not turning up at all' so I got to go home and sleep the rest of the day away, getting paid for the full shift. It was pretty great, as it goes but I would have preferred not going at all.. you know, if I had the option and all.

Sam and I are going to Cornwall next week. I am SUPER excited about it.
