Just barely made it there in time to set up Settlers this morning, wound up playing with one hand and eating with the other. The Settlers game was super, 3 of us were both playing cutthroat and trading the lead among ourselves, and not taking anything personally. We all had 9 points when one guy managed to wrest longest road from me for the win. That eliminated me from any more Settlers competition. Then to Ticket, where I played a perfect game of Europe, finishing all tickets and more than anyone else - and finished dead last, eliminating me from TTR. Then I lost another Settlers game to a 5 year old. I thought it might be time to call it a convention then!
Got home just after the 1st quarter of the Ravens/Dolphins game and was able to chase the game on the DVR, plus it was a pretty enjoyable game outside of the FG shenanigans. Then the first grocery shopping since before Mom's surgery, and I've been trying to plow through the DVR since.
Two things I noticed when I got home about the games I bought: 3 of the 4 games were designed by Reiner Knizia. I knew Ingenious was, I didn't realize Circus Flocati & Lost Cities were until I de-shrinkwrapped them. I imagine I should be seeking out his games in that case. His mind seems to work the same direction as mine. The fourth game, Endeavor...it looked fine when I bought it, and I took it straight to the car, where it lived in the trunk with the other games for 3 days. Today I took the game apart and found numerous dings and dents, a crushed exterior corner and a split interior corner. It must have taken abuse in the trunk, but none of the other games had any damage. I'm stumped.
