I've got something that might help you: a list of names and common terms, spelled out in hiragana, katakana and/or kanji. I was doing this for myself, and thought I'd share. After months of tracking GFantasy on Amazon.co.jp, I finally decided to order a subscription from my local Kinokuniya. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it is just $55 for a 6 months sub or $98 for a 12 month sub. Not bad for a manga magazine imported from Japan that is supposedly hundreds of pages long and sometimes contains gifts.

This is silly but it's bugging me. I've started memorizing katakana and hiragana so that I can read at least a little of Pandora Hearts in the native Japanese. My katakana book - Japanese Katakana for Beginners -- has a list of most common English names, and one of them is Liam, spelled like this: リアム. I only speak one language: English

I'm 42 years old. It is unlikely that I'd ever get good at a second language at this stage in my life, unless I lived in a country where I was forced to speak that second language all the time.
