According to Environment Canada's forecast, the temperature today is not expected to rise above -20, with a windchill making it feel like -39 in the morning and -30 in the afternoon. The city issues a frostbite warning when a windchill of -35 or colder is predicted, because at those temperatures, exposed skin can freeze in as little as 10 minutes. Currently it's -26 C.
OKAY, it's okay. I know how to layer. Sure, I broke down into a vicious coughing fit just opening the door to pick up the paper this morning, but I've survived this before. My plan:
-1 long sleeve shirt, 1 jacket, 1 winter coat
-1 scarf
-2 pairs of gloves
-1 pair of pyjama pants
-1 pair of jeans
-2 pairs of socks
-1 pair of boots
I seem to have misplaced my hat at the moment, but I have a hood. It will be fine! Fiiiine!
How do YOU prepare for cold temperatures? Layers? Staying in doors? Buying one of those newfangled "automobile" machines?
