FOUNDATIONS & FRACTURES
Making Sense of the World

i /  Gen. 1 v. 1 - 25

cf. Summary of the Enuma Elish creation poem
          [Apsu & Tiamat | Ea | Marduck]
 - from Saying Yes To Life by Ruth Valerio

Similarities to Gen 1.:
- "In the beginning.."
- The world created in stages
- Order first created by divine being/s

Differences to Gen 1.:
- Plural deities ... more gods created
- Initial order immediately leads to chaos
- Attempt to initiate recovery of disorder
- Convoluted & chaotic
- Power struggles
- Lack of structure
- Lack of joy
- Lacking in role models
- Humankind created as enslaved:
to serve the gods & free them from work

vs.  Love & blessing
Intentional: Let it be / And it was so.
       Purposeful & orderly
God has endowed creation with His character

Qu. What would these gods want of you?
________

"So what?"  - the prompt onwards, to move from biblical study & teaching
