I was at a movie yesterday night and started thinking about the idea of going to movies with friends. I think that movie viewing is a very personal experience during the actual viewing process, and that the criticism and review is largely a group process. Just got done watching Juno [so busy I had to watch it in segments over the course of a whole day]. Great movie. Caught this movie at 11am today. I really enjoyed this departure from the classical Shane-ish main hero who so often defines old westerns. These days, we see western protagonists as deeply-flawed characters, and Christian Bale's farmer/father figure is one of the best. Some of the revelations about his past are stunning.
