OK,lately, I've been getting settled with everything I'm doing right now. It's cool. I moved all of my stuff (minus my computer desk my friend has) into my place. I have everything set up and in it's place (food, toiletries, clothes, etc.). The only thing that needs to get working now is the wireless router that I got not too long ago. That way, I can be doing this at home rather than trying to find time to do it during the day when I'm at school. Plus I'll be able to communicate a lot better with the my friends/coworkers/students/instructors/family. So I gave the router to my roommate, since it's his internet we'll be working off of. We're going to be splitting the cost three ways, cause all of us are going to use the internet. My other roommate, is going to by a wireless card, so he can get internet too. And we'll keep the router in my roommate's room, and us other two can be wireless.
School is going along ok. I've been doing quite a bit of practicing and playing to be in the two wind ensembles. It's cool though. Now that I'm all caught up, and can play through everything with the rest of my section, I can get to practicing for my lessons. I had mine today, and he was pretty cool with everything that's been going on. He was really chill about lessons, and we talked for a long time about stuff I want to get done this semester and what my future plans are. It was nice to find out what I'm planning on doing, and for him to understand where I'm going as well.
The schools I'm working at are doing, ok. Not GREAT, but ok. We'll get buy. They are catching up, which is good. South Pasadena is getting all of their stuff learned. After that, then I can jump in and start worrying about the quality of what they're playing, but for now, they have a lot on their hands as far as learning all of the stuff first. They know what they need to work on. One of our bass players from last year wants to come back, but I'm not sure they'll be able to come back and be in the line, because they aren't in the drumline class, and the line is already set. It'd just make everything so much more confusing for the kids if we were to ad her in the line. We'll see what happens. I gotta talk to the band director about this.
Simi, is doing better all of a sudden. I finally lighted the fire under their ass, and told them how it is. They seem to be taking everything pretty well. But it's cool to be teaching the pit there. It is making me step up my game as well. Things are going in the right direction for Simi. I can't say the same for South Pas. So everything seems to coincide with everything else I'm doing. I'm currently working on a type of style and approach with the pit at simi. And I'm writing them some better exercises that will help them learn more and become better players, as well as help them play their show better. But I haven't quite finished some of them yet; I'm still working out the ideas. I think they'll like some of the new changes, and goals that I have for them.
As for BK, I am REALLY excited to get started and be a part of this. There are a lot of new things happening there that are different than last year. We already have a lot of talent coming and auditioning. And from what I hear, it's going to be a SICK show! I have a really good idea about what the show's about, and I really dig it. Let's just say that it'll help me out, cause I'm auditioning for Cadets 05. Hopefully we can get all the tenor players to work out schedules and conflicts so we can all do BK. If all us four can do it, we're going to have a SICK tenor-line out for this winter. We are going to turn heads left and right, until their heads unscrew. It's exciting!
OK, well, that's all I'm going to write for today, I'll try to add some more later. I gotta get on some more things today, and can't spend a lot of time talking about stuff that are going on. I'm going to order some more percussion stuff, and get sized for buying my own tux. I'll update later, and let everyone know what's new. Peace!
