So apparently Jared and Gen got married yesterday. This shows just how dedicated I am to the real life aspect of the fandom. I found out that he'd been engaged to Sandy via fic.
I found out that he'd broken up with Sandy via fic (okay, so TECHNICALLY, they'd broken up long before I got knee deep into the fandom, so it was pretty simultaneous of the finding out he was engaged and then not engaged ... so i'm not sure if it counts). I found out that he and Gen were dating and then subsequently enaged through my flist and then fic.
And now, the wedding.
My thoughts? *shrug*. The deep seeded fan!girl inside of me is a little sad. Another one bites the dust. LOL! But at the same time, it really doesn't affect me personally. I've noticed it vaguely affecting fic (which makes me kind of sad.. because it's all that people seem to be focusing on).
Hence, the reason I prefer AU fic. It hasn't been that way with all of my fandoms.
With Backstreet, I loved real life fic as much as AU. They were at par. With Pinto, I think I prefer real life. I haven't really found much in the way of AU with them, and that's okay. But for some reason, I prefer AU with J2.
Pretty much my favourite J2 (and subsequent pairings, although I do enjoy real life m2) authors are pretty much mostly AU, and I love it that way. I can enjoy the show, enjoy the pairing, enjoy my fantasies and not get too involved to the point of depression at something that really isn't depression worthy.
This is kind of reminding me in the early 2000s when Kevin married Kristin and Brian married Leighanne. Man.. wasn't that a mess? LOL!
