This: After weeks of increasing stress over my graduate program - first all about things not working out the way they should have, then the difficulty of the first couple of homework assignments - I bit the bullet and went up to campus to meet my TA for a Q&A session. I feel tons better, especially as he said, "yea, those first couple of homework assignments were tougher than they should have been, but they get better." And he made me feel a lot better about what the Professor is going to expect of us come exam time (the distance learning folks will be getting the midterm in the next couple of weeks). So for now I feel a lot better about the workload. Plus I have DSL at home now, so I can actually watch lectures when I'm NOT supposed to be doing fun things with radioisotopes.
That: Ok, GE is going to reimburse me for tuition. At the beginning of the semester there was a form which told Case about that. I assumed that this meant I wouldn't have to worry about it (as I was told that I needed to either provide a check for 1/2 of the tuition or the confirmation letter). I assumed wrong, apparently. A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail at my case e-mail account (which I only check about every other week) saying that the payment was due in full by October 15th (which is now tomorrow). I didn't look much closer than that, except to see that I could pay online. "Great." I think. After all, I got my GM car specifically for this purpose (and because it's a kick ass 6.9%! And that's after the first year of 0%.). So today I go to try to pay . . . only to discover that they only accept Discover Card. My GM card is a Mastercard. Shit, I don't have $3200 sitting around (my own fault, really, for paying off Lynne's car). Well, I guess I'll have to call tomorrow, since they're closed today. Maybe they'll accept my thumb, instead . . .
The Other Thing: As a general rule, I don't discuss religion or politics. It's too easy to disagree with someone and piss them (or yourself) off. But I saw a quote today that I had to share, "If you took half of what Bush says and half of what Kerry says, you'd get a damn good President."
