Well, after almost a week of "my-computer is stupid", we have it up and running again.

Last Wednesday (I think), my computer was running kind of slow, so I decided to do some maintenance. I downloaded and ran ad-aware. Of course it picked up a few things. But as it scanned, it also picked up a virus. And it looked like it might be in my system files, which means Norton couldn't clean it unless I booted in safe mode. No problem, right?Well, that's what I thought. My first attempt (using the F8 key as it booted, didn't work. IT stopped mid-boot and then proceeded to boot normally. Then I tried changing the system configuration. Bad idea. No matter what I did from then on, the computer would try to boot in safe mode and just choke about half way through.

And I didn't have a boot disk.

Well, to make a long story short (too late), it took me a week of finagling before I managed to make a boot disk on my computer at work using my re-installation CD. I did my best to clean the virus, but it may still be lurking. IT's hard to say with some of these nasty buggers.
