Okay, maybe I'd better give you some back story first. :)
In the mid to late 1980s, I began hearing about this Japanese healing art called
Reiki. It sounded fascinating to me. Gradually, I started meeting more and more people in my social circle who were practitioners of this art.
Well, one day, I had a really bad cold (similar in intensity to the one I caught over the weekend). I remembered that one of my friends was a Reiki channel, so after suffering with this cold for a few days, I called her and asked if she could do a distance healing for me. She said she would. So I hung up and promptly went to bed. As soon as I woke up, all traces of the cold were gone! That was more than enough to convince me to learn Reiki! So I went through a weekend workshop shortly after that, where I was initiated by a teacher into First Degree Reiki. I'm not able to do distance healings, as my friend did for me, however. That's covered in Second Degree Reiki. I am, however, able to do "minor" healings, like for mild backaches, for instances.
Now, fast-forward to today. I got about nine hours of sleep last night, and was feeling a lot better, but I still had my cold, and was still sniffly and sneezy. Then, I remembered the incident I recounted above. When I ran into a friend on the bus a couple of weeks ago, I remembered him telling me that he teaches Reiki classes. So I emailed him this morning before I left work, and asked if he could please do a distance healing on me. At around 10:00 this morning, I noticed that my sniffles were gone, and I think I sneezed once. My voice was no longer husky (my coworker said I sounded like "Snufflelufagus")! And right now, I have no cold symptoms whatsoever.
When I get home, I'll definitely thank my friend and ask him when the next Reiki class is!
