I was up earlier than expected this morning and began eating leftovers from yesterday (but not the serious ones). Alisher texted to say he couldn't train today so I started sniffing around for other things to do. I ended up spending the afternoon with Steven after he walked down the the neighborhood for a haircut only to realize his barber no longer works on Mondays.
We drove up to Northgate to have sushi at happy hour prices from Sushi Maru. The salmon was especially good. After late lunch I took him to Bark Espresso and the barista was even chattier and friendlier than the previous visit (that's really chatty and friendly if you were wondering).
I dropped him off at home and came home myself for some more TV time. I knew Justin had today and tomorrow off work and though we have plans for ride tomorrow, he suggested we go for a run. I talked him into going to Greenlake and a couple hours later he was creeping at my window with Luka in the car.
We drove down to Cowen Park then ran from there to Greenlake, around the inner loop, and back. We kept up a pretty good clip for most of the route but I couldn't maintain it towards the end. My feet were bothering me quite a bit, but we finished almost 5 miles at a 9:30 pace which is nothing to be ashamed at at this point in the year.
After coming home and showering, I was almost unable to walk my feet hurt so bad. I hobbled around but decided I had better take full advantage of the day off and make another visit to the Crest for a late movie. I saw The Sessions, chosen almost exclusively because the review numbers were positive. I read one paragraph of one review before sitting down to watch.
I'm not sure if it was what I expected or not. There were a LOT of parts I wasn't expecting, like the vast amounts of naked Helen Hunt. But I also didn't expect it to be as funny and poignant and likable as it turned out to be. Helen Hunt may be draw enough, but it's an exceptional performance by John Hawkes who plays a polio victim mostly confined to an iron lung. See this movie! It will help you appreciate being an adult for its lack of infantilism.
Tomorrow is one more day off. If the weather cooperates, Justin and I are riding. If it doesn't (and if my legs remain tired after the long ride and run), I guess something else will replace that. In the evening I'm going to Eric and Angela's for the MSU-Michigan basketball game that's bound to be close and exciting and important for both teams.
