* Last week was my five year LJ anniversary. It made me feel so old. I can't believe it's been that long since I got here, or that I was in fandom way before I came to LJ. Also I was reading my older posts, way back at the beginning, and it was so weird because I didn't sound (or read?) like myself. I don't know if it's because I've changed that much or because my english was worse then. It's a strange disconnect. I always get it to some degree when I write in english, because I can never express myself exactly the way I want to or in a sufficiently articulate way for my taste, but these first few entries really brought it home. It's part of the reason I'm such a lurker I guess.

* I'm going to LA in a couple of weeks for work and I'm pretty happy about it. I don't really like the city much, because I can't get over the fact no one walks there, but I think I'm getting myself the Generation Kill DVDs as an early Christmas present so that's exciting. It's so funny because I've been so obsessed with it lately and just in time HBO is going to rerun it here, one episode a day, from dec 2.

* I wanted to do recs from warbigbang, which has been amazing, but I really don't know where to start, pretty much every story I read has been enjoyable. So just go there and start anywhere. There's everything, from totally AU to more canon based stories, but all of them pretty awesome. There are so many great fics in this fandom, especially because for such a small fandom.

* I went to see The social network the other day and not surprisingly (I love David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin's work) I loved it. I was surprised that I found it so funny and that I liked Armie Hammer so much. He was absolutely fantastic as the twins. Andrew Garfield I adored, but I knew I would because he's made of awesome. Also, there's fic, which I didn't expect to like or felt there was a need, but it goes to show I know nothing because this was wonderful and everything I didn't know I wanted after the movie. It's Mark and Eduardo slowly finding their way back to each other, done flawlessly.
